Power Man No. 1

Power Man

Power Man was a short-lived comic published in the late 1980s by KET Entertainment. It featured a superhero in the Superman mold, complete with emblazoned shirt and cape, who fought crime in New York City. His enemies included Mike, as well as "the bad man," who torments Power Man in the premiere issue with a large mechanized shark. In Issue #2 of Power Man we learn that the superhero lives in the clouds. Issue #3 introduces readers to the Power Car, sometimes refered to simply as "PC."

Issue #4

Over the years, there has been a concerted effort by sophisticated comic book afficionados to track down the apocryphal fourth issue of Power Man. Every few years a collector surfaces who claims to have located a copy but no claim so far has panned out. Recent promising searches have included: the cardboard boxes on the southwest corner of the basement of 11219 Fairway Drive, and the attic of the same house. Other, more fanciful searches have been led at the Midtown Comic Book Shop (40th & 7th Avenue in New York), and the inside of a Spanish bodega, 14-29-81, Calle Castilla in Seville. The value of this issue, believed to have been printed in 1989, is also in dispute, with some collectors claiming its worth as easily double its original cover price, putting it in the low half-dollar range.

Future Issues of Power Man

According to former employees of KET Entertainment (the company disbanded in 1989), there are no plans to revive Power Man, despite petitions from the series' many fans.
