Hewitt Building

Yeah, they tore down the Hewitt Building at Cooper Union and now there's this big pile of rubble in front of St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church (1977) and an ugly-beautiful 1960s office building (school?). Curbed has noted that the whole scene looks very Eastern European and I agree, but the fire escapes on the buildings on 7th Street are a giveaway. All of this to make way for the new--and very futuristic looking--Thom Mayne Cooper Union Building. Should be interesting.
