Quite possibly the most romantic spot in the city, DUMBO occupies a narrow strip of land in Brooklyn, between the Brooklyn Bridge and the Brooklyn Naval Yard. DUMBO gets its name from the early 1990s title "Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass." Until DUMBO was adopted, this spot was traditionally referred to as Fulton Landing, a reference to the ferry that shuttled between Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan before the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge. Made up of narrow cobblestone streets and massive brick warehouses with stunning views of the river, Manhattan, and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, DUMBO is simply breathtaking. This shot catches the view of the Manhattan Bridge at the end of Washington Street. The bridge was built in 1909 and has two levels, with four vehicle lanes and a walkway on the upper, and 3 vehicle lanes, 2 subway tracks and a bike lane on the lower level.
